Maths

Intent

At Hawridge & Cholesbury CE School, we want all children to be FRESH in their mathematical learning.  We aim to provide practical mathematical opportunities for the children to learn, explore and apply new concepts.  We use the White Rose scheme of learning as our planning guide which supports and scaffolds each lesson from Windmills through to Year 6 and enables the children to be fascinated with their mathematical learning.    Our pupils have access to a range of resources and are encouraged to take their maths learning outdoors wherever possible. We aim to teach the skills children need to solve real life mathematical problems and provide opportunities for them to work both independently and as part of a team to collaboratively find solutions.  We want all our children to become rounded mathematical learners who can apply their skills in a wide range of real life situations.
