Geography

Intent

Our Geography curriculum enables children to flourish as global citizens by exploring their place in the world, their values and responsibilities to other people, to the environment and to the sustainability of the planet.  We want out children to be passionate about Geography and to become Geographers!

Geography is a fascinating and diverse subject and one we see daily all around us.  Geography is a key element of our FRESH curriculum as it is explored best via outdoor learning and at our school through a strong focus on nature.  It also helps create rounded individuals who have a wide knowledge of the world.  The pupils in our school are able to clearly articulate their knowledge as well as their views on many geographical issues facing the world, not least climate change, plastic in the ocean and the need to save the rainforests.  At Hawridge and Cholesbury C of E School, we have wonderful school grounds and easily access our varied local area, regularly using it to examine a variety of human and physical geography topics.  Its proximity also allows the pupils to regularly hone their fieldwork skills.  Our aim is to create a yearly wave of Hawridge and Cholesbury geographers.
