Sports Activities

During this academic year  (as a result of being members of the Partnership) each class will participate in an inter school festival, the gym club will take part in a gymnastics festival, years 2 and 5 will showcase their dances at an event at DCHS and the KS2 running club members will compete at a cross country event.  Coaches will be provided to and from all these events.

In addition our netball team will take part in two tournaments (one as part of the Partnership) and the football team will play 5 league matches and several ‘friendlies’.  Using our funding we are now able to provide a qualified coach and referee at football matches. Coach Jenner has been invited back to work with Year 5 pupils for 5 weeks finishing with a festival.  (One of his students last year is now playing Basketball for the county!)

Following the very successful ‘Fit4fun’ week last summer, we will be running this again with a variety of sports on offer from Lacrosse to hoola hooping.  This takes pace the week beginning the 20th June, with Sports Day scheduled for Thursday 23rd June. Each day will start with a ‘Wake and shake’ session and on Sports Day this will be followed by a demonstration by the Gym club. Running club will take place on 2 lunch times – KS1 to start up on Wednesday KS2 to continue on Friday.

Girls football will be introduced and if possible at least 1 inter school match arranged.

—Introduction of regular inter-house competitions at the end of each half term to practice the skills the children have learned (Summer A : hockey years 3-6)

A new school bi-annual event is a Fun Run for all year groups, to maximize the use of our extensive grounds.
