Our School Curriculum
Everything we do at Hawridge & Cholesbury C of E School is led by our vision. We want all our children to develop a real love and thirst for learning, which will enable them to flourish in all that they do for their entire lives, preparing them for the challenges of education and life beyond the primary years.
Our FRESH approach is underpinned by our school's Christian values: Respect, Teamwork, Responsibility, Understanding, Peace and Honesty. We aim to deepen our children's understanding of the world around them. We want our children to know more and remember more.
Our unique and celebrated Hawridge and Cholesbury FRESH (Fascinating, Rounded, Eager to make a difference, Spiritual and Highly aspirational) curriculum is designed by staff and children. We are proud to be delivering many of our lessons outside the classroom and/ or through nature. Utilising our fantastic natural resources we have embraced a term called Kith and Kin (Kith, The Riddle of the Childscape, by Jay Griffiths) whereby parents are invited into school termly to celebrate an aspect of learning and the curriculum through nature. In addition, Forest Schools is a critical part of the FRESH curriculum for all children from Windmills to Year 6.
We aim for our inspirational curriculum to be irresistible and inclusive to all our learners.
Through rich and engaging cross-curricular learning (based on the National Curriculum and Early Years Framework) we motivate learners, ensuring that they have a broad and balanced understanding of the world around them, whilst creating memories to take with them beyond their time at Hawridge & Cholesbury.
We want our children to have limitless aspirations, celebrate their successes and develop their resilience to overcome obstacles.
